Federal compliance, drone certifications, and rural healthcare logistics are full of acronyms. Below are the questions most clients ask before they engage MW AIRLIFT™.
MW AIRLIFT™ (M.W. Energy Logistics LLC) is a minority-owned, NDAA-compliant drone logistics and AI-driven IoT monitoring operator headquartered in North Carolina, pursuing SBA 8(a) certification. We serve rural healthcare providers, federal and state agencies, and commercial clients across North Carolina.
MW AIRLIFT™ is pursuing SBA 8(a) certification — positioning to apply to the U.S. Small Business Administration's 8(a) Business Development Program, which serves firms owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. Once certified, the program gives federal agencies authority to award sole-source contracts through the SBA 8(a) Business Development Program, which dramatically shortens procurement timelines for both the agency and the operator. MW AIRLIFT™ is one of a small number of NDAA-compliant drone operators nationally while positioning for SBA 8(a) certification.
MW AIRLIFT™ is an NDAA Section 848-compliant drone operator headquartered in North Carolina, pursuing SBA 8(a) certification. Our federal fleet — Parrot ANAFI USA GOV (primary) and Skydio X10 — is approved for use on all federal contracts and any state, local, or tribal work that involves federal funding. We maintain a strict separation between this federal fleet and our commercial inspection fleet.
NDAA Section 848 of the National Defense Authorization Act prohibits federal agencies from buying or operating drones, components, or software produced in covered foreign countries — primarily China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea. To meet the requirement, an aircraft must appear on the U.S. Department of Defense's Blue UAS Cleared List. The Parrot ANAFI USA GOV (primary) and Skydio X10 — MW AIRLIFT™’s planned federal fleet — are on that list. DJI aircraft are not.
The American Security Drone Act, signed into law in December 2023 and with its transition period ended December 22, 2025, prohibits federal agencies — and any state, local, or tribal entity using federal grant funds — from purchasing or operating drones from covered foreign manufacturers. In practical terms, this means county health departments, state agencies, and emergency management offices that touch federal dollars must use NDAA-compliant operators. MW AIRLIFT™ is built to meet this standard.
DJI is headquartered in China and falls under the foreign-entity restrictions of NDAA Section 848 and the American Security Drone Act. Federal agencies and any federally-funded entity are prohibited from operating DJI hardware on covered work. MW AIRLIFT™ maintains a written dual-fleet compliance firewall: NDAA-compliant aircraft are used for all federal and federally-funded engagements, and a separate commercial fleet is used only for purely private-sector inspections — never on federal jobs.
Our primary service area is North Carolina, including the Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill), Eastern NC, coastal NC, and rural and tribal communities. For federal contract work and disaster response subcontracts, we operate across North Carolina, with planned expansion into South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia.
Yes. MW AIRLIFT™ is a minority-owned business. It is positioning for SBA 8(a) certification. Its NC HUB application is in progress (filed May 14, 2026). DBE certification is currently paused under USDOT's interim final rule.
